Abdullaah Bin Abbaas (radiyallaahu-anhumaa) said, abu sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah’s Apostle had truce with abu sufyan and Quraish infidels. So abu sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem).
Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius’s question said to them, “Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet?” abu sufyan replied, “I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group).” Â
Heraclius said, “Bring him (abu sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him.” abu sufyan added, Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me.” Abu sufyan added, “By Allaah! Had I Not Been Afraid Of My Companions Labelling Me A Liar, I Would Not Have Spoken The Truth About The Prophetýý (Bukhaari: Book of Revelation)
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet was asked about the great sins He said, they are:
[2]To be undutiful to one’s parents.
[3]To kill a person (which Allah has forbidden to kill) (i.e. to commit the crime of murdering).
[4]And to give a false witness.
Narrated Abu Bakra:
The Prophet said thrice, “Should I inform you out the greatest of the great sins?” They said, “Yes, O Allah’s Apostle!” He said, “To join others in worship with Allah and to be undutiful to one’s parents.” The Prophet then sat up after he had been reclining (on a pillow) and said, “And I warn you against giving a false witness, and he kept on saying that warning till we thought he would not stop. (See Hadith No. 7, Vol. 8)
Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullaah) said, ”Chapter: The Advice Of The Imaam (ruler) To The Litigans”
Narrated Umm Salamah (radiyallaahu-anhaa), Allaahýs Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ýýI am only a human being, and you people come to me with your cases; AND IT MAY BE THAT ONE OF YOU CAN PRESENT HIS CASE ELOQUENTLY IN A MORE CONVINCING WAY THAN THE OTHER, AND I GIVE MY VERDICT ACCORDING TO WHAT I HEAR.  SO IT EVER I JUDGE AND GIVE THE RIGHT OF A BROTHER TO HIS OTHER (BROTHER) THEN HE (THE LATTER) SHOULD NOT TAKE IT, FOR I AM GIVING HIM ONLY A PIECE OF HELL (FIRE) (Bukhaari Vol 9, Hadith No: 7169)
