Who is True Imam Mahdi?

TAKEN FROM: http://www.allaahuakbar.in/mehdavis/who_is_true_imam_mahdi.htm

that is predicted in the Ahaadeeth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saws)

Any one who sees an optical illusions declares himself a Mahdi. Like Mirza Gulam Ahmed Qadiyaani, Syed Mohammed Jaunpuri, Wallace Fard Muhammad, Elijah Poole (Muhammed), Isa Abdullah (Dwight York’s The Ansaarullah Cult), Abdullah Al-Harari Al-Habashi, Deviant Groups like Baha’is, Shi’ah etc. There are many who have called themselves Mahdi, How much Mahdivis we have had already and how much more are waiting in the wing?  Allaah can only help us from these so called Mehdis, it is really becoming difficult to make a choice when we receive them left, right and centre.  When someone has a personality disorder, he talks strange things and then, visualising the natural reaction of the people, automatically becomes paranoid and seeks refuge elsewhere.

Arrival of the “Promised Messiah” has not made life any easier for us.  We were mendicants and we will ever remain mendicants.

Many have claimed that they are Imam Mahdi. The list is big out which few I have mentioned above, Many Muslims have been trapped by this claim. Let us see what Holy Prophet Muhammad had said about the coming of Imam Mahdi.
There are saheeh Ahaadeeth that indicate that the Mahdi (peace be upon him) will appear at the end of time. He is one of the signs of the Hour. Among these ahaadeeth are the following:

At that time a citizen of Madina will flee (from Madina) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him between Hajr-ul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him. Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is between Makkah and Madina, they will be swallowed into the ground. On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnah and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat. (Abu Dawood)

Al-Albaani said it is saheeh; see al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 5/219, hadeeth 5796).
According to these Reliable, Authentic, and Universally Accepted Narrations, Imam Mahdi will:

1.Be from among the family of Prophet (SAW), among the descendants of Fatima (RA);
2.Have a broad forehead and pointed noise;
3.Appear in one night;
4.Appear just before the day of judgment;
5.Have same name as Hazrat Muhammad (SAW);
6.Escape from Madina to Makkah where people will pledge allegiance to him;
7.Receive pledge and help of Iraqi people;
8.Fight in battles;
9.Rule over the Arabs for seven or Eight years according to Sunnah;
10.Spread justice and equity on earth;
11.Eradicate tyranny and oppression;
12.Lead a prayer in Makkah which Jesus (pbuh) will follow in;
13.NOT be the same individual as the Promised Messiah (Jesus).

14.Allaah will grant him rain, the earth will bring forth its fruits,

15.He will give a lot of money, cattle will increase and the ummah will become great.

16. He is one, behind whom ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will pray.
Did this all so called Imam Mahdis fulfilled these criteria and performed these duties?
The ahaadeeth concerning the appearance of the Mahdi reach the level of Tawaatur in meaning (tawaatur refers to a hadeeth which was narrated by so many people through so many isnaads that it is inconceivable that they could all have agreed on a lie). The imaams and scholars of this ummah have stated this, and a few of their comments are quoted below:
1. Al-Haafiz Abu’l-Hasan al-Aabiri said: “The mutawaatir reports from the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) describing the Mahdi are very many. They state that the Mahdi will be of his family, that he will rule for seven years, that he will fill the earth with justice, that ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will emerge and help him to kill the Dajjaal, and that he will lead this ummah in prayer and ‘Eesaa will pray behind him.”
2. Muhammad al-Barzanji said, in his book al-Ishaa’ah li Ashraat al-Saa’ah: “The major signs and the signs that will be immediately followed by the Hour: these signs are many, of which the Mahdi will be the first. Know that the ahaadeeth that have been narrated about him in various reports are numerous.” He also said: “You know that the ahaadeeth which speak of the Mahdi, his appearance at the end of time, and his lineage and descent from the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) via Faatimah reach the level of tawaatur in meaning, so there is no point in denying them.”
3. Al-‘Allaamah Muhammad al-Safaareeni said: “There are so many reports which speak of the appearance of the Mahdi that they reach the level of tawaatur in meaning; they are very popular among the scholars of Sunnah and have become part of their faith.” Then he quotes a number of ahaadeeth and reports about the appearance of the Mahdi and the names of the Sahaabah from whom they were narrated: “Many reports were narrated from the Sahaabah whose names were mentioned and others whose names were not mentioned, may Allaah be pleased with them all, and from the Taabi’een after them, all of which proves that this is definitive knowledge. Belief in the appearance of the Mahdi is obligatory, as it has been confirmed by the scholars and is listed among the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah.”
4. Al-‘Allaamah al-Mujtahid al-Shawkaani said: “The ahaadeeth that we have come across that speak of the awaited Mahdi reach the level of tawaatur, including fifty saheeh, hasan and da’eef munjabar ahaadeeth. There are mutawaatir without a doubt; indeed they are more mutawaatir than others, according to all the standards of usool. There are also many reports from the Sahaabah that speak about the Mahdi and that reach the level of marfoo’, so there is no room for individual opinions in such an issue.”
5. Al-‘Allaamah al-Shaykh Siddeeq Hasan Khaan said: “Even though there are different versions of reports concerning the Mahdi, they are so many that they reach the level of tawaatur in meaning. They are to be found in al-Sunan and other books of Islam.”
6. Al-Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ja’far al-Kattaani said: “The conclusion is that the ahaadeeth narrated concerning the Mahdi are mutawaatir, as are the ahaadeeth concerning the Dajjaal and the descent of ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam, upon whom be peace.” (See Ashraat al-Saa’ah by Yoosuf ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Waabil, pp. 195-203).
You should be aware that some liars have fabricated ahaadeeth about the Mahdi, and others have even claimed to be he, or that he belongs to a group other than Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah. Some of these “false mahdis” have tried to deceive the slaves of Allaah for some worldly gain and to distort the picture of Islaam. Some have started movements and revolutions and gathered those people and supporters whom they were able to deceive. Then they were destroyed, and their lies and falsehood were exposed. None of this affects the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah in the Mahdi, upon whom be peace, and that he will undoubtedly appear and rule the earth in accordance with Islamic Sharee’ah. And Allaah knows best.

And Now Hadith regarding the coming of Hazrat Eisa Ibne Maryam
Mirza Gulam Ahmed being Imam Mehdi claimed that he is the Promised Messiah, Eisa Ibne Maryam also, that was prophesiced by the Holy Prophet, who he will come before the Day of Judgement. Was he correct in his claim? Let us see, what Holy Prophet SAW said about this:

According to these Authentic and Universally accepted Hadith:

1. The Promised Messiah is none other than Hazrat Isa bin Maryam (pbuh) (Jesus);
2. He will descend among Muslims, near the White Eastern Minaret of Damascus, Syria, clad in two yellow sheets (dyed with saffron), while leaning on the shoulders of two angels;
3. He will pray behind Imam Mahdi;

9. He will die after living on earth for 40 years and will be buried in a grave next to the holy Prophet (SAW).
10. His advent is a sign for the closeness of the day of Judgment (Quran, 43:61)

Did Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani fulfil any of these conditions, which Holy Prophet SAAW swore that they would take place?

Was Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, the Prophet or the Promised Messiah or Imam Mahdi?

Read carefully these Ahaadeeth, look at the state of Muslim world. Mirza knew that he was lying about being a Prophet of God, or Promised Messiah or Imam Mahdi, because:

Dear Brothers! Mirza knew that he is not that Imam Mahdi, the Divine Leader that is promised by Holy Prophet SAAW, yet his followers keep insisting that he was Imam Mahdi. If he is Imam Mahdi, then obviously he miserably failed to do his job.
Dear Readers! Mirza himself was aware that whatever he has claimed is totally against what has been mentioned by Holy Prophet Muhammad but he was so overcome by his satanic desires that he did not realize that he is committing blasphemy. He justified his claims by saying:

“The basis for our claims is not Hadith but Quran and that Wahi which comes to me. Yes, in support we also present those Hadith which are according to Quran and DO NOT CONTRADICT MY WAHI. Rest of the Hadith, I THROW THEM AWAY LIKE A WASTE PAPER.” (Roohani Khazain vol.19 p.140)

Dear Readers! It is clear that the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement had laid claims contradictory to Quran and Hadith. The Islamic scholars of Makkah, Madina, Cairo and the entire Muslim world declared as apostate, disbelievers, and out of the fold of Islam, him and his followers. He died 100 years ago, but his followers continue to deceive people in the name of Islam. Ignorance from Islamic teachings, and, ignorance from Mirza Ghulam and his teachings is the basic fault, which is exploited by the missionaries of Ahmadiyya. It is the duty of every Muslim to be on their guard against such deception. No Muslim should be allowed to get trapped out of ignorance. Knowingly if someone joins them, then of course there is no compulsion in religion.
May Allah protect Muslims from the fraudulent doctrine of these Deviant Movements Like Qadiyaniyat and Mehdiviyat movement in the name of Islam. O Allah! Bring ignorant Muslims who have been trapped by them, back to the fold of Islam, let them see what is right and what is wrong and then give them the hidayah to follow the right path. Ameen.

The sections of this article are:

1- Gog and Magog and the Iron Gates in Noble Verses 18:83-110.
2- My Personal Thoughts and Proofs.
3- Some Muslims believe that Dhul-qarnain or Zul-qarnain was the Persian
King Cyrus.
This section has some very interesting historical facts from both
the Bible and the Noble Quran. See comparison between the Bible’s and the
Noble Quran’s claims.
4- Will the army of Gog and Magog return?
5- The People of Gog and Magog seem to be the Jews, Christians, Oriental
and Hindu Pagans of today.

The following commentary regarding the Noble Verses above was copied from C. 137, page 731, from the Noble Quran’s Commentary that was translated by Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Ali; may Allah Almighty rest his soul and make Paradise his ultimate destiny.

Please pay attention to “My Personal Thoughts and Proofs” section below toward the end of this article to see my proofs and analysis from the Noble Quran that prove that the people of Gog and Magog are the Oriental people of today.

“C. 137 (18:83-110) — Three episodes in the life of a great king.  Dhu al Qarnayn illustrated how power and opportunities should be used in the service of Allah: he punished the guilty indeed, but was kind to the righteous; he left primitive people their freedom of life; and he protected industrious people from grasping neighbours.  But he relied upon Allah, and made them remember the Day of Judgment, when all will see the Truth and receive the Punishments and Rewards earned in their present life.”

Let us now see the details of the story of Gog and Magog and the Iron Gates in the Noble Quran:

Let us look at Noble Verses 18:83-110 “83. They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain

[or Dhul-qarnain]. Say, ‘I will rehearse to you something of his story.’

84. Verily We established his power on earth, and We gave him the ways and the means to all ends.

85. One (such) way he followed,

86. Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: ‘O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness.’

87. He said: ‘Whoever doth wrong, him shall we punish; then shall he be sent back to his Lord; and He will punish him with a punishment unheard-of (before).

88. But whoever believes, and works righteousness,- he shall have a goodly reward, and easy will be his task as We order it by our Command.’

89. Then followed he (another) way,

90. Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun.

91. (He left them) as they were: We completely understood what was before him.

92. Then followed he (another) way,

93. Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word.

94. They said: ‘O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them?’

95. He said: ‘(The power) in which my Lord has established me is better (than tribute): Help me therefore with strength (and labour): I will erect a strong barrier between you and them:

96. Bring me blocks of iron.’ At length, when he had filled up the space between the two steep mountain-sides, He said, ‘Blow (with your bellows)’ Then, when he had made it (red) as fire, he said: ‘Bring me, that I may pour over it, molten lead.’

97. Thus were they made powerless to scale it or to dig through it.

98. He said: ‘This is a mercy from my Lord: But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into dust; and the promise of my Lord is true.’

99. On that day We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another: the trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them all together.

100. And We shall present Hell that day for Unbelievers to see, all spread out,-

101. (Unbelievers) whose eyes had been under a veil from remembrance of Me, and who had been unable even to hear.

102. Do the Unbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors besides Me? Verily We have prepared Hell for the Unbelievers for (their) entertainment.

103. Say: ‘Shall we tell you of those who lose most in respect of their deeds?-

104. Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life, while they thought that they were acquiring good by their works?’

105. They are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter): vain will be their works, nor shall We, on the Day of Judgment, give them any weight.

106. That is their reward, Hell, because they rejected Faith, and took My Signs and My Messengers by way of jest.

107. As to those who believe and work righteous deeds, they have, for their entertainment, the Gardens of Paradise,

108. Wherein they shall dwell (for aye): no change will they wish for from them.

109. Say: ‘If the ocean were ink (wherewith to write out) the words of my Lord, sooner would the ocean be exhausted than would the words of my Lord, even if we added another ocean like it, for its aid.’

110. Say: ‘I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your God is one God: whoever expects to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and, in the worship of his Lord, admit no one as partner.’ “

The following commentary regarding the Noble Verses above was copied from Appendix 6, page 738, from the Noble Quran’s Commentary.

“We now come to the Iron Gate which corresponds exactly to the Quranic description, and has the best claim to be connected with Alexander’s story.  It is near another Derbend in Central Asia, Hissar District, about 150 miles southeast of Bukhara.  A very narrow defile, with overhanging rocks, occurs on the main route between Turkestan and India:  latitude 38 degrees N; longitude 67 degrees E.  It is now called in Turkish-Buzghol Khana (Goat- house), but was formerly known as the Iron Gate (Arabic, Bab al Hadid; Persian, Dar-i-ahani; Chinese Tie-men-kuan).  There is no iron gate there now, but there was one in the seventh century, when the Chinese traveler Hiouen Tsiang saw it on his journey to India. He saw two folding gates cased with iron hung with bells. Nearby is a lake named Iskandar Kul, connecting the locality with Alexander the Great.

We know from history that Alexander, after his conquest of Persia and before his journey to India, visited Sogdiana (Bukhara) and Maracanda (Samarqand).  We also know from al Maqdis, the Arab traveler and geographer; who wrote about A.H. 375 (A.C. 985-986) that the Abbasi Caliph al Wathiq (842-846 A.C.) sent out mission to Central Asia to report on this Iron Gate.  They found the defile 150 yards wide: on two jambs, made with bricks of iron welded together with molten lead, were hung two huge gates, which were kept closed.  Nothing could correspond more exactly with the description in (Noble Verses) 18:95-96.

If, then, the Barrier in 18:95-98 refers to the Iron Gate near Bukhara, we are able to proceed to a consideration of the Gog-Magog people with some confidence.  They were the Mongol tribes on the other side of the Barrier, while the industrious men who did not understand Dhu al Qarnayn’s language were the Turks, with their agglutinative language, so different from the languages then spoken in Western Asia.

The Barrier served its purpose for the time being.  But the warning that the time must come when it must crumble to dust has also come true.  It has crumbled to dust.  Long since, the Mongols pushed through on their westward journey, pushing the Turks before them, and the Turks became a European Power and still have a footing in Europe.  We need not bother about the legends of the Gog and Magog people.  They were reputed to be giants, and two tiny hills in flat Cambridgeshire are derisively called the Gog-Magog hills!  Similarly the statues of Gog and Magog in the Guildhall in London, which M.M.A. takes so seriously, only remind us how legends are apt to grow and get transported to strange places.

In the Alexander legends of medieval Europe, Gog and Magog are said to have come with 400,000 men to the help of Porus whom Alexander defeated, and to have fled after that defeat.  They fled to the mountains, and Alexander built a wall with brass gates to prevent their irruptions. See Paul Meyer, Alexandre le Grand dans la literature francaise du Moyen Age:   Paris, 1886; Vol. 2, pp. 386-389.

Personally, I have not the least doubt that Dhu al Qarnayn is meant to be Alexander the Great, the historic Alexander, and not the legendary Alexander, of whom more presently.   My first appointment after graduation was that of Lecturer in Greek history.   I have studied the details of Alexander’s extraordinary personality in Greek historians as well as in modern writers, and have since visited most of the localities connected with his brief but brilliant career.

Few readers of Quranic literature have had the same privilege of studying the details of his career.  It is one of the wonders of the Quran, that, spoken through an Ummi’s (illiterate) mouth, it should contain so many incidental details which are absolutely true.  The more our knowledge increases, the more we feel this.  There are little touches which need not have been mentioned.  They come in incidentally like the incidental remarks of a person full of knowledge, who does not intend to put forward these points but whose fullness of knowledge brings them in inevitably.

One such point occurs in the mention of Alexander’s westward journey (18:86).  He saw the sun set in a piece of murky water which is described as “Spring”.  Most commentators have understood the “Spring” to be the sea, and the “murky water” to be its dark-blue water.  Nizami, in his Romance of Alexander, takes Alexander right west along North Africa to Andalusia and the Atlantic Ocean.  There is no historic proof that Alexander ever reached the Atlantic.  But he was of course familiar with the deep-blue waters of the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean interpretation may pass if we had not a closer explanation.   Alexander’s first exploits were when he was a mere boy, in the reign of his father Phillip.  The region of Illyricum was due west of Macedonia, and Macedonia’s first expansion was in that direction.  The town of Lychnis was annexed to Macedonia and thus the western frontier of Macedonia was secured.  The northern frontier towards the Danube had already been secured, and the lesson he subsequently gave no Thebes secured him against attack from the Greek States to the south, and prepared the way for his great march east against the Persian Empire.

To the west of the town of Lychnis is a lake170 square miles in area, fed by underground springs that issue through limestone rocks and give out murky water.   Both town and lake are now called Ochrida, about 50 miles west of Monastir.   The water is so dark that the river which forms the outlet of the lake to the north is called the Black Drin.  Looking at the sunset from the town, the observer would see the sun set a pool of murky water (18:86).  It was a question before the boy Alexander — the dreamy, impulsive, fearless rider — whether he would put the barbarous Illyricans to the sword or show them mercy.  He showed true discrimination and statesmanship.  He punished the guilty but showed kindness to the innocent, and thus consolidated his power in the west.  This I construe to be the meaning of (Noble Verses) 18:86-87; otherwise these verses do not seem to be perfectly clear.

Another point may be noted.  The three episodes mentioned are the journey to the west, the journey to the east, and the journey to the Iron Gate.  The journey to the west I have just explained.  The journey to the east was to the Persian Empire.   Here he found a people who lived in the open and wore little clothing.  This might apply to people who live in an inland place in the latitude of Persepolis or Multani.  He left them alone as they were (18:91).

He was not warring against populations: he was warring against the proud but effete Persian Empire.  He left them as they were, with their local institutions, and under their local chiefs.  In feeling, he treated them as his own, not as aliens.  In some things, he himself adopted their ways.  His followers misunderstood him.   But Allah understood, for He approves of all things that lead to Unity among mankind.

The direction of the third journey is not mentioned.  The Commentators suggest the north, but they might with better reason have suggested the south, as Alexander visited Egypt.  But the visit to the Iron Gate was to the East — a continuation of his journey east.  That is why the direction is not mentioned again.  Here his mission was different.  He had to protect, against turbulent and restless invaders.   He helped them to protect themselves, but warned them that all human precautions, though good and necessary, are vain without Allah’s help.

Each of the episodes mentioned is historical.  But the pomp and glitter of military conquest are not mentioned.  On the contrary, spiritual motives are revealed and commended.  We need not know or learn any history or geography or science or psychology or ethics to understand them.  But the more real knowledge we have, the more completely shall we understand them and the lessons to be drawn from them.  The earthly journeys are treated as mere symbols to show us the evolution of a great and noble soul which achieved so much in a short earthly life.

His career was so extraordinary that it impressed his contemporaries as a world event.   It undoubtedly was on of the greatest world events in history.  Legends began to grow up round his name.  In many cases the legends overlaid the history.   Today the world is thrilled by Sir Ayrel Stein’s identification of Aornos, a very small geographical detail in a great career full of lessons, in political, ethical, and religious wisdom.

But the generations immediately following Alexander’s period wrote the transmitted all sorts of wonderful legends that passed current in East and West.  The philosopher Kallisthenes had been with Alexander in Asia.  Under his name was produced a Greek book in Alexandria some time before the second century of the Christian era.  It was translated into Latin in the third century.  Translations were subsequently made into most of the European languages.  In Chaucer’s time (1340-1400) these Alexander legends were known to every “weight that hath discrecion” (The Monk in Canterbury Tales).

Alexandria was a focus of Christian and Jewish learning for some centuries.  The Christians also made Alexander a saint.  The Jews carried the Alexander cycle into the East.  Our Persian poet Jami (A.H. 535-599, A.C. 1141-1203) worked it up into his epic the Iskandar-nama.  He is careful to show the historical or semi-historical and the ethical parts separately.  The one relates to action or exploits (Iqbal) and the other to wisdom (Khirad).  He had the advantage of the Quranic story before him.   That story mentions three historical episodes incidentally, but draws our attention to matters of the weightiest spiritual significance, and that is the chief thing to note in the story.”

My Personal Thoughts and Proofs:

Notice very carefully that Noble Verse 18:90 says: “Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun.

If you look at the Oriental people today (i.e., China, Japan, Mongolia, Vietnam, etc…) you would notice that their eyes are a bit stretched out. The reason for this formation of their eyes is because the amount of excessive sun rays that hit their eyes.   Of course, it probably took thousands of years for their eyes to be formed and effected this way from the sun rays.

The point is that those people, the Gog and Magog, whom GOD Almighty “provided no covering protection against the sun” seem to belong to what we call today the “Oriental” race according to the Noble Quran.

Also, notice that Noble Verses 18:91-94 say:

“91. (He left them) as they were: We completely understood what was before him.
92. Then followed he (another) way,
93. Until, when he reached (a tract) between two mountains, he found, beneath them, a people who scarcely understood a word.
94. They said: “O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them?”

This means that Zul-qarnain left those “Oriental” people and traveled further to where he found another type of people who looked different and understood his language; “a people who scarcely understood a word. (The Noble Quran, 18:93)”.  They complained about the people of “Gog and Magog” for doing mischief on earth.  If you look at the countries bordering China today from the West and the South West such as India, Pakistan, Russia, etc…., then you would notice that they are not Oriental countries, even though they have direct borders with China and Mongolia.

As Sheikh (Minister) Abdullah Yusuf Ali said above, the people of Gog and Magog were the Mongolians (which could include Mongolia, China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan), and the righteous people whom Zul-qarnain protected with the Iron Gates were the Turks (which could include Turkey, South Russia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and several other Arab countries).

It just immediately grabbed my attention when Allah Almighty in the Noble Quran described the people of Gog and Magog as people whom He the Almighty “provided no covering protection against the sun. (The Noble Quran, 18:90)” because it perfectly fits the description of the Oriental race today.

If you look at the Oriental countries today, you would see that they are Pagan countries or Idol Worshiping Countries.  If you look at the Middle Eastern and South Russian (such as Chechneya, Georgia, Uzpakistan, etc…) today, then you would see that they are Muslim countries.

Some Muslims believe that Dhul-qarnain or Zul-qarnain was the Persian King Cyrus:

Please visit The Gog and Magog in the Bible and the Noble Quran.

Please also visit Was King Cyrus of Persia the Dhul-qarnain of the Noble Quran who stopped Gog and Magog?

Please be advised that for this link, I disagree with the author for claiming that Alexander was a Pagan.  According to the historical references above in this article, Alexander was considered a great person to the Jews and is considered like a Saint for the Christians, even though he existed before Jesus peace be upon him.  His importance to both Jews and Christians eliminates the (perhaps false) fact that he was an idol worshiper.

Will the army of Gog and Magog return?

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him taught us that one of the Sings of the Hour (the Day of Judgment) is when the army of Gog and Magog returns and fights the Muslims:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: “The Prophet said ‘The people will continue performing the Hajj and ‘Umra to the Ka’ba even after the appearance of Gog and Magog.’ Narrated Shu’ba extra: The Hour (Day of Judgment) will not be established till the Hajj (pilgrimage to the Mecca) is abandoned. (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Pilgrimage (Hajj), Volume 2, Book 26, Number 663)”

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:  “The Last Hour would not come until you fight with a people wearing shoes of hair and the Last Hour would not come until you fight with a people having small eyes and broad snub noses. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book Pertaining to the Turmoil and Portents of the Last Hour (Kitab Al-Fitan wa Ashrat As-Sa`ah), Book 041, Number 6958)”

The People of Gog and Magog seem to be the Jews, Christians, Oriental and Hindu Pagans of today:

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said that the people of Hell are the people of Gog and Magog:

Abu Sa’id reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: “Allah, the High and Glorious, would say: O Adam I and he would say: At Thy service, at thy beck and call, O Lord, and the good is in Thy Hand. Allah would say: Bring forth the group of (the denizens of) Fire. He (Adam) would say: Who are the denizens of Hell? It would be said: They are out of every thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine. He (the Holy Prophet) said: It is at this juncture that every child would become white-haired and every pregnant woman would abort and you would see people in a state of intoxication, and they would not be in fact intoxicated but grievous will be the torment of Allah. He (the narrator) said: This had a very depressing effect upon them (upon the companions of the Holy Prophet) and they said: Messenger of Allah, who amongst us would be (that unfortunate) person (who would be doomed to Hell)? He said: Good tidings for you, Yajuj and Majuj (i.e., Gog and Magog in English) would be those thousands (who would be the denizens of Hell) and a person (selected for Paradise) would be amongst you. He (the narrator) further reported that he (the Messenger of Allah) again said: By Him in Whose Hand is thy life, I hope that you would constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Paradise. We extolled Allah and we glorified (Him). He (the Holy Prophet) again said: BY Him in Whose Hand is my life, I wish you would constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise. We extolled Allah and Glorified (Him). He (the Holy Prophet) again said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, I hope that you would constitute half of the inhabitants of Paradise. Your likeness among the people is the likeness of a white hair on the skin of a black ox or a strip on the foreleg of an ass. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Faith (Kitab Al-Iman), Book 001, Number 0430)”

If we were to look at the Noble Quran, we would see that Allah Almighty promised those who rejected His Sings in the Noble Quran from Jews, Christians and Pagans the torture of Hell Fire:

“Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. (The Noble Quran, 98:6)”

The Arabic word for Polytheists in Noble Verse 98:6 is “Mushrikeen”, which literally means those who take partners with GOD Almighty in worship.  Examples of “Mushrikeen” in Islam are:  Trinitarian Christians, for they partner Jesus and the Holy Spirit with GOD Almighty in worship, and the Hindus and Buddhists, for they partner their idols with GOD Almighty in worship.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Pagan Orientals and Hindus along with the Sexually open, Satanic, Western Societies who are mostly Jews and Christians all end up in Hell Fire.

This Dunyaa Not Exceeding 7000 Years?

E-mail Print PDF
Compiled by Abul-‘Abbaas Moosaa Richardson
An answer to aquestion about a hadeeth reported by “Tirmidhee” but is is the famous Imaam at-Tirmidhee that we know of?

…And from these [guidelines] is that the report contradicts explicit passages of the Qur’aan, like the hadeeth about the length of the dunyaa, that it is 7000 years, and that we are in the seventh thousand.  This is from the most obvious of lies, since had it been authentic, everyone would know that there can only remain 251 years! [Ibn al-Qayyim likely wrote this around the
year 749]

Image

A questioner stated:
Al haakim & at-Tirmidhee hadeeth concerning jahanamiyyoon (those who go to fire but are Muslim).  ‘They will be in it like the extent of this world from the time it was created until the time it ends which is 7000 years.’  And this is a sound hadeeth.

1. Not only is al-Haakim’s chain weak due to an unknown narrator who took the hadeeth from ‘Ikrimah, the actual wording is: “When the Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) arrived in al-Madeenah, the Jews were saying that this worldly life will last 7000 years.”
This is attributed to Ibn ‘Abbaas.  Unless the intended hadeeth is another one in al-Haakim’s book which I could not find, this hadeeth can not establish such a claim, since (if it were authentic) it is merely what the Jews were saying, with no mention of an approval from the Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace).

2. I believe the “Tirmidhee” being referred to is al-Hakeem at-Tirmithee, not the famous “Imaam at-Tirmithee”.  There is a big difference.  al-Hakeem at-Tirmithee [d.320] had a book called “Nawaadir al-Usool” with lots of weak and fabricated narrations.  The scholars of hadeeth consider a hadeeth only referenced to his book to be an indication of its weakness.  Al-Imaam at-Tirmithee (d.279) was a great imaam of hadeeth praised by the likes of Imaam al-Bukhaaree and the imaams of the third century.  He judged the authenticity of the vast majority of the hadeeths he collected in his Jaami’, commonly referred to as “Sunan at-Tirmithee”.

I say this because I could not find the hadeeth in Imaam at-Tirhmithee’s book, yet I found it in al-Hakeem at-Tirmithee’s book (2/36), without a chain.  It is a long hadeeth with obvious signs of being fabricated, attributed to Aboo Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace).  Al-‘Iraaqee declared the hadeeth to be weak in al-Mughnee fee Haml al-Asfaar.

3. Based on these two points, to judge the hadeeth to be sound is an obvious error, and Allaah knows best.  Moreover, the hadeeth has been identified by the scholars as a fabrication.

4. Without going into further details about the other claims made, I will quote the words of Ibn Qayyim al-Jowziyyah from his book, al-Manaar al-Muneef (pp.80-83), where he discussed a number of guidelines that can be used to identify lies attributed to the Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace):
…And from these [guidelines] is that the report contradicts explicit passages of the Qur’aan, like the hadeeth about the length of the dunyaa, that it is 7000 years, and that we are in the seventh thousand.  This is from the most obvious of lies, since had it been authentic, everyone would know that there can only remain 251 years! [Ibn al-Qayyim likely wrote this around the year 749]  How can this be so when Allaah has said (what means), “They ask you about the Hour, when will it come?  Say: ‘Knowledge of it is only with my Lord.  None can reveal its time other than Him.  Its affair is heavy throughout the heavens and earth.  It shall not come upon you except suddenly (without warning).’  They ask you about it as if you know about it!  Say: Its knowledge is only with Allaah.” [al-A’raaf 7:187]  And Allaah has said, [what means], “Verily with Allaah is knowledge of the Hour.”
We can further verify the correctness of Ibn al-Qayyim’s argument, “…Everyone would know that there can only remain 251 years!” since we are now living 680 years after he said that.
I hope this helps clarify the falsehood of the claim in question, and Allaah knows best.

Amir b. Sharahil Sha’bi Sha’b Hamdan reported that he asked Fatima, daughter of Qais and sister of ad-Dahhak b. Qais and she was the first amongst the emigrant women: Narrate to me a hadith which you had heard directly from Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and there is no extra link in between them. She said: Very well, if you like, I am prepared to do that, and he said to her: Well, do It and narrate that to me. She said: I married the son of Mughira and he was a chosen young man of Quraish at that time, but he fell as a martyr in the first Jihad (fighting) on the side of Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam). When I became a widow, ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Auf, one amongst the group of the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam), sent me the proposal of marriage. Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) also sent me such a message for his freed slave Usama b. Zaid. And it had been conveyed to me that Allaah’s Messenger (way sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) had said (about Usama): He who loves me should also love Usima. When Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) talked to me (about this matter), I said: My affairs are in your hand. You may marry me to anyone whom you like. He said: You better shift now to the house of Umm Sharik, and Umm Sharik was a rich lady from amongst the Anqir. She spent generously for the cause of Allaah and entertained guests very hospitably. I said: Well, I will do as you like. He said: Do not do that for Umm Sharik is a woman who is very frequently vizited by guests and I do not like that your head may be uncovered or the cloth may be removed from your shank and the strangers may catch sight of them which you abhor. You better shift to the house of your cousin ‘Abdullah b. ‘Amr b. Umm Maktum and he is a person of the Bani Fihr branch of the Quraish, and he belonged to that tribe (to which Fatima) belonged. So I shifted to that house, and when my period of waiting was over, I heard the voice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayer would be observed in the mosque (where) congregational prayer (is observed).
So I set out towards that mosque and observed prayer along with Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and I was in the row of the women which was near the row of men. When Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) had finished his prayer, he sat on the pulpit smiling and said: Every worshipper should keep sitting at his place. He then said: Do you know why I had asked you to assemble? They said: Allaah and His Messenger know best. He said: By Allaah. I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for a warning, but I have detained you here, for Tamim Dari, a Christian, who came and accepted Islam, told me something, which agrees with what I was-telling, yuu about the Dajjal. He narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these (waves) took them (near) the land within the ocean (island) at the time of sunset. They sat in a small side-boat and entered that Island. There was a beast with long thick hair (and because of these) they could not distinguish his face from his back. They said: Woe to you, who can you be? Thereupon it said: I am al-Jassasa. They said: What is al-Jassasa? And it said: O people, go to this person in the monastery as he is very much eager to know about you. He (the narrator) said: When it named a person for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a Devil. Then we hurriedly went on till we came to that monastery and found a well-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. We said: Woe be upon thee, who are you? And he said: You would soon come to know about me. but tell me who are you. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarked upon a boat but the sea-waves had been driving us for one month and they brought as near this island. We got Into the side-boats and entered this island and here a beast met us with profusely thick hair and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not be distinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee, who are you? It said: I am al- Jassasa. We said: What is al-Jassasa? And it said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he is eagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you in hot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He (that chained person) said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baisan. We &aid: About what aspect of theirs do you seek information? He said: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not.
We said: Yes Thereupon he said: I think these would not bear fruits. He said: Inform me about the lake of Tabariyya? We said: Which aspect of it do you want to know? He said: Is there water in it? They said: There is abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: I think it would soon become dry. He again said: Inform me about the spring of Zughar. They said: Which aspect of it you want to know? He (the chained person) said: Is there water in it and does it irrigate (the land)? We said to him: Yes, there is abundance of water in it and the inhabitants (of Medina) irrigate (land) with the help of it, He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done? We said: He has come out from Mecca and has settled In Yathrib (Medina). He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? We said: Yes. He said: How did he deal with him? We informed him that he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they had submitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Had it actually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is so that is better for them that they should show obedience to him. I am going to tell you about. myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land, and will not spare any town where I would not stay for forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two (places) are prohibited (areas) for me and I would not make an attempt to enter any one of these two. An angel with a sword in his hand would confront me and would bar my way and there would be angels to guard every passage leading to it; then Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) striking the pulpit with the help of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba meaning Medina. Have I not, told you an account (of the Dajjal) like this? ‘The people said: Yes, and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him (Dajjal) at Medina and Mecca. Behold he (Dajjal) is in the Syrian sea (Mediterranian) or the Yemen sea (Arabian sea). Nay, on the contrary, he As In the east, he is in the east, he is in the east, and he pointed with his hand towards the east. I (Fatima bint Qais) said: I preserved It In my mind (this narration from Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam).

Al-Sha’bi reported: We visited Fatima b. Qais and she served us fresh dates which are called rutab and she also served us barley. I asked her about that woman in whose case three divorces had been pronounced as to how much time she should count as the waiting period. She said: My husband pronounced three divorces in my case and Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) permitted me to spend any waiting period in my family. (It was during this period) that announcement was made for the people to observe prayer in the bigger Mosque. I went there along with people and I was in the front row meant for women and it was adjacent to the last row of men and I heard Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) deliver sermon sitting on the pulpit. He said: The cousin of Tamim (Dari) sailed in the ocean. The rest of the hadith is the same but with this addition:” (I see) as if I am looking to Allaah’s Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) pointing his rod towards the land (and saying): It is Taiba, i. e. Medina.”

Tamim Dari came to Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and informed Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) that he sailed in an ocean and his ship lost direction and thus landed at an island. They moved about in that land in search of water. There they saw a person who had been pulling his hair. The rest of the hadith is the same. And he (Dajjal) said: If I were to be permitted to set out I would have covered all the lands except Taiba. Then Allaah’s Messerger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) brought (Tamim Dari) before the public and he narrated to them and said: That is Taiba and that is the Dajjal.

The rest of the hadith is the same.

Anas b. Malik reported that Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: There will be no land which would not be covered by the Dajjal but Mecca and Medina, and there would no passage out of the passages leading to them which would not be guarded by angels arranged in rows. Then he (the Dajjal) would appear in a barren place adjacent to Medina and it would rock three times that every unbeliever and hypocrite would get out of it towards him.

This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Anas that Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said this but with this addition that (the Dajjal would come) and pitch his tent in the waste-land of Juruf and thus there would come out of (the city) every hypocrite, man and woman.
